Well, I found a diagram of how to build a solar light system - cost in British pounds=100p = $150 or so. But the diagram could be useful in piecing together a system and there's some good info about what kind of bulbs to uses, etc.
Alicia, I like the solar timer idea...if something comes of it, please keep me posted and I'll do the same :) Jamie
This just popped up on Craigslist Bellingham -Egg Incubator
Anyone looking for year-old hens? I know someone letting go of a flock: a couple older hens (one sweet 3 yr old Auracauna & one ?) and 2-4 Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds from last spring. Send me a message if you're interested. Alicia
Wouldn't it be great if we could find/come up with a little solar light on a timer - or a way to adapt one of those solar yardlights? I've started putting light in my coop in the evening - dark to 10pm or so instead of the morning, as the morning light made Henry crow at 3am! They just sit around in the coop and gossip until the light goes out. My solar yard lights seem to stay on until about 9 or so before they burn out. Hmmm
