In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think the transistion movement is a smart, better than intentional communities, way to bring like minded people together. I believe that change is inevitable and very necessary. I believe it is better that we create change in our selves, in the ways that we live, connect with nature and with one another, and create government and community in a conscioius way than through the haphazard, unconscious ways of the past. It is time - actually it may be too late - but, it is important that we, each one of us, take a good hard look at who we are, how we collectively have created our world, and find ways to create a better world, one that will allow for all of nature to survive in.....and I think the transisiton movement can open the doors for that to happen.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
My years of life experience, my awareness and observation skills/abilities, my knowledge of how to live a simple, sustainable life. I was raised in the backwoods, when such a thing existed, and I have many very practical skills....far too extensive to list here.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Between Ferndale, Sandy Point, and Bellingham....near the Lummi Casino

They're organically fed and I am going to build a chicken tractor so I can start pasturing them, but I can't do it til I build the chicken tractor because theres too many predators here to do it any other way. Theres a lot of eagles, racoons, coyotes and neighborhood dogs that roam free all over Point Roberts. I am going to build a chicken tractor this spring with plans I found on line. I'll then move it all over my yard so the chickens can eat the weeds and fertilize the yard which is really not a "yard" its a meadow. I don' use any weed killers or anything, I hate companies like Monsanto. Round up should be banned, especially in Hawaii where its killing the reef. They've banned it in Queensland Australia to protect the Great Barrier Reef there. BTW, are you a member of the Bellingham Chapter of Weston Price Foundation by any chance? I was just at their meeting yesterday and there were a lot of people there who do pasture raised chickens also cows and goats. I met a guy there from Lynden who is 95% food self sufficient on his own land for the past 10 years. I want to go visit him and his wife and hang out for a few days to learn from them. I am also going to start making my own saurkraut and kimchi and doing kombucha, kavass and kefir and I'm going to start making my own butter and yogurt. All that stuff is so easy to do and so is growing sprouts, something I used to do but stopped a few years back, but I'm going to lay in a stock of good sprouting seed from Azure Standard http://www.azurestandard.com/ and from http://www.johnnyseeds.com/ The US Dollar is being intentionally taken down. The reason is the ruling elite are trying to destroy Canadian, American and Mexican sovereignty in order to force us into a collectivist North American Union Dictatorship modelled after the EU, which is a collectivist dictatorship.

Hello,
I saw your note on the board at the sustainable connections building at the ReStore about getting info on how to have a healthy compost from chicken manure. We have an awesome compost and use our chicken's manure in it - I don't think there is anything special that we have done to have a good compost but if you had a specific question about it feel free to ask me!
I've been following your discussion about strategy, derived from the article you put on Transition, though I don't seem to be able to find it right now. Just want to add my .02$ worth: no proposal seems radical enough to work, though there is something significant about each. We need to take radical personal action to power down, provide for ourselves and reduce consumption, but there isn't time not to be social and political also. We need radical education of the public.
The film Food Inc. which is at the Pickford now should be widely distributed to individual people, not just theaters. Not enough people are readers to rely on books. One other thing is to take inventory and use the fossil fuel and embedded energy left to distribute high priority tools. I would like to be involved in a session to prioritize which tools we need to obtain for the next couple of generations, because they (the very young) will not be able to get them at any price. If you think my remarks are of value, you might help me figure out how to post them to the discussion.

Thanks,
