Hello, all,

I for one had a great time at Peggy's on the 30th. I can just see working together on local edible and medicinal plants and doing community preserving. What a bright future.

I'm glad we settled on getting together on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Mark your calendars for our meeting at Ro's on April 13 and our potluck and movie night on April 27 with details to be determined.

yes, it is hard sometimes to stand helplessly (it seems at times) by as horrible things are done in our name. i have heard john perkins on the radio many times and i can't imagine the courage it took for him to come forward.
I am expecially mindful today as it is the 7th anniversary of our attack, invasion and occupation of Iraq. I remember river on this day, she used to inform me of what it was like to be a human on the recieving end of our criminal actions.

on a brighter note....WE DO ROCK!!! and i believe we are doing what needs to be done and i am very grateful to all of us.

Thanks Peggy for the link to Dave Ewoldt. It was excellent reading and I agree with him and hope we can all work toward a sustainable peace.

Thanks to Alys Kennedy for being a great host to a great meeting. I input the names and data for our roster and will be sending it out soon.

Judith and I just got back from a short trip to some of our neighbors houses where we dropped off a flyer about the upcoming Transition Ferndale "Potluck and a Movie Night". I hope it will be another great turnout. Along with the "Movie Night" flyer, we gave out info about Transition Whatcom.

I just started reading the book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" and boy what an eye opener. Thanks to Keith Foecke for the loan of the book. It's a very personal story about a man and his job to ruin foreign governments to promote and sustain American Empire. I am so embarrassed to be an American sometimes. At least I can rest knowing that most "People" of foreign countries like we the people of the USA, they just don't like "The USA Government".

I got the message that the Transition Movement is watching us here in Whatcom County. I am proud to be a member of Transition Ferndale.

Thanks for the link to Dave Ewoldt, Peggy. I haven't yet had the time to read all of it, but what I did ready was impressive. Wish he was here instead of in Tuscan.

Meeting at Alys' is posted as a Transtition Whatcom event here: http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/events/transition-ferndale-meeting

Give her a call to RSVP and get directions.

David and I signed up for the next CERT class. That's the Community Emergency Management Team. It starts April 15 and runs for 9 weeks. You register through BCT. It's on page 26 of the BCT catalog that just came in the mail. As part of that, we plan to survey our neighbors just like Ro. We think it's a non-threatening way to get started with the people around us. We know a lot of them, but not all.

Lastly, mark your calendars for our next potluck and film at WECU on Monday, March 22. Film to be announced. That means we haven't picked one and are open to suggestions.

Alys, yes I agree we need more F'ites. I'm thinking of doing an Emergency Management survey among my neighbors just as a door opener for bonding as a support group. Hopefully we can then discuss our views on peak oil, etc. ... Thanks for your phone call, I've been doubled booked the last two weeks, but do want to come to the TF meeting at your house, and would also like to get together for mutual work projects, socializing, etc
