Hello Everyone,
Hope you are all braving the torrential rains the last few days and looking forward to the spirit of the holiday season.
We are having a holiday gathering at Fern Hollow on December 6th to celebrate all the goods things happening in our corner of Whatcom.
5581 Second Avenue, Ferndale. Across from Pioneer Park and south of Cherry Street. Parking on the street in front of our home.
5 pm on, light snacks and maybe a chowder will be provided as well as beverages. Please come and share the seasonal glow with us!
RSVP to let me know you can attend.
Thanks,
Terese
Our next Transition Ferndale meeting will be at the Culver's home west of Ferndale on Tuesday January 24th at 6:30 PM. The address is 3390 Hidden Pond Dr. Ferndale WA 98248
During the meeting you will watch my presentation about the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal. My presentation is 28 minutes long and covers most of the impacts this terminal would have on our area.
So far I have presented this power point and script that I read to a neighborhood organization, a common security group that we belong to, and a local high school ecology club. I hope to present it to many more groups in the future. Please let me know if you have one that would want to learn about the terminal project.
Come join us for our next meeting.
David Culver
HI everyone,
I failed to mention the time for our meeting Thursday, it will be at 6:30 pm.
Thanks, Terese
Hi all,
Next Thursday Aug. 4 some us will be meeting at The Frank-N-Stein to discuss planning for a Coal Forum similar to the one held in Bellingham by ReSources, Sierra Club and others in the coalition to stop the coal trains in Whatcom County. Time will be 6:30 pm and will be fairly informal. The actual Coal Forum won't be until after school starts Sept. 7th. I have been active with the SC national organizers on this topic.
Please let me know if you are interested and plan to attend. Probably about an hour or so meeting.
Thanks,
Terese
Greetings! this is a reminder about the first meeting of the Whatcom Investing Network on Tues, June 28. This is a spin off from the TW Personal Finance Workgroup and some of us have been talking about this for a long time. The event listing is here http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/events/whatcom-investing-network
And did I say there will be food and drink? Hope to see some of you there.
Hello, everybody, We have a new member, Richard Kauffman. He has a farm near Lynden.
Richard, a lot of our communication is in face to face gatherings and emails outside of Transition Whatcom ning site. You are welcome to join us and we will post our events here to let you know what's happening. If you have any specific requests in the meantime, comment here and we'll see what we can do.
Welcome, Richard!
Hello everyone,
Just a reminder that the next Transition Ferndale meeting is at the Culver's house at 6:30 PM Monday 5/9/2011. I will demonstrate bending EMT for use to support greenhouse plastic for making a garden cloche.
There will of course be other topics discussed and we may have an overview of what the Birchwood neighborhood is doing if Rick and Gary come to our meeting. Judith also wants to discuss what the Transition local investing group is doing.
We hope to see you here Monday night!
Questions?

Good show Keith! After all the health issues I'm working through, it was uplifting to see everyone and have a good learning session too.
Your map and compass training was a great refresher for me. Our Outings Committee for the Sierra Club is going to focus on this for our annual campout in June, and I will be helping out so thanks again for organizing this and all the research you did. I am interested in the handout you gave us, is this from the USGS site? What a great tool and it would be good to use for our SC campout also. I am staying positive in the light of events now as we have to carry hope to sustain us through the present chaos of living in the industrialized society! Terese
