This garden site will be close to two major traffic zones (I-5 and Northwest ave). Does anyone know how far the exhaust pollution from traffic falls to the earth? I don't know but I've always been wary of harvesting food that grows near streets.

A community garden is being planned for the Birchwood Neighborhood, on private land. owned by Faith Lutheran Church. (Near Intersection of Northwest and I-5)
A planning meeting will be on THIS Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 4:30.
The purpose of the garden is to make good use of our property by providing local residents a place to garden.
We hope to learn more about the community's interest in this project and hope that area residents will attend. Feel free to contact below person for more information, or if you would like to attend, or if you have some helpful information. Edward Alexander

The Community First! Gardens Project supports neighborhoods in creating and maintaining community gardens in which residents can grow their own food. Welcome Jasmin! And to all the Birchwoodies who might check this: my girls are laying up a storm and I have room for a few more egg customers. $3/dozen for multicolored organic eggs from happy free-range chickens - with (often) a duck egg or two thrown in. I live on Bennett Drive near Alderwood and will be setting up a cooler so folks can drop by to pick up eggs and leave $$. NOOOOOOO!!! IT CAN'T BE TRUE!!!!!!! Let's put out an APB for (how many?) chickens! I can just see it in the Cascade Weekly Police blotter! We have pics! We can identify them - and they couldn't have wandered away on their own! Is the sign still there?? I have reported this to the TWIG, by the way.

Hello Transition Birchwood Members!
Hey, I hope many of you will consider riding bikes to the Great Unleashing event this Sat.- I'm wondering if any of you have bike trailers that we can include in our ride (if they're not already slated for bringing children)... and if anyone would like to collaborate on a quick banner strategy for such bike trailers, if they're made available. We could just pull some hearty native shrubs along, but it would be nice to promote Transtion and the event with some signage as well. Look forward to seeing you and/or hearing from you-
