Here's your chance to meet more Birchwood community and find what you need at one place! 5-7 of us - mostly TW and TB (Birchwood) members - are shedding groovy stuff at a driveway flea market on Saturday July 24th (9-4), with a dollar and under sale on Sunday the 25th (9-1). At my place - 3319 Bennett Drive - near Alderwood. Come meet more Birchwood neighbors and find treasures: garden stuff, art, clothing, tools, very cool knick-knacks, books and more. See you there!!

Sunday, July 11th at 5-ish.
Northern Urban Neighbor's Potluck at Jasmin's

Each Sunday though the summer (before school begins) there are plans to gather together at 5pm and share a potluck picnic meal on the land....Let Jasmin know if you would like to host or help us share the invitation.
Info posted below. This potluck is inclusive of any who consider themselves a Transition Whatcom northern urban neighbor or a friend of northern neighbors......share the invite...
We need someone to volunteer to help coordinate rotating the backyard sites to share a meal on the land, and to help invite neighbors & friends by both phone & emails...
.(I'm just the part-time messenger and Jasmin is offering the vision and has been host 3 times)

Possibly folks will carpool from Jasmins after the meal to New Moon Ceremony out near VanZandt.

Northern Urban Neighbor's Potluck at Jasmin's again today July 4th at 5pm. Info posted below. Unknown how long the potluck will last as this is a holiday night with evening music & fireworks in town.
This potluck is in the political boundaries of the Columbia neighborhood, but only 2 blocks from the Birchwood boundaries, and is inclusive of any who consider themselves a TW northern urban neighbor or friend.

Potluck - Picnic Style - Sunday June 27th - 5 pm
"Northern Urban Neighbor's Circle Dinner"

-First location of the summer:
Jasmin & Lonnie's at 1511 East Maplewood (NW & Meridian)
. (Note- Not W maplewood).
Walk slowly through the garden,
into the deep backyard edible forest clearing.

To Bring: potluck dish & eating utensils, and
blanket/mat/pillows to sit on the earth in a shared eating circle.

If you want more info leave a comment on Jasmin
(sounds like 'yahs-min') L. personal page.
(I'm just the messenger and may miss this shared time together).

If its Raining then Postponed until following Sunday, July 4th.

Remember to invite your neighbors,
who may not be online or may be isolated.

(I'm posting this on both the TW Birchwood & TW Columbia groups, but anyone who considers themselves a northern neighbor
or friend is welcome).

(Future Sunday gatherings to follow at another neighbor who invites us for the next neighbors outdoor 'Circle Dinner-Picnic' ).
Purpose: To circle together, share a meal, and enable sharing & networking.

Thank you Christy. I can also be a co-administrator.

Juliet,

You will be missed, thanks for everything you have done here. I am happy to be administrator or co-adminstrator (I'd prefer the latter, got my hands full right now) if no one else has offered.

Best -C

Bye, Juliet - at least from the neighborhood to a neighboring one. Thanks for all the energy you put into this neighborhood and good luck with your re-settling.

Hi there,
As a follow up to my email, there can be several administrators of the Transition Birchwood site. The only real "power" one has is to delete members, or promote other members to administrator.
Bye bye to Birchwood, and hello to Laurel. We will miss our kindly Birchwood neighbors, and this beautiful place to live!

Yes, it's true! Our house purchase on Cherrywood Ave. is closing tomorrow (Mon. April 26th). We'll be in the moving process from now through April 30th. It's nice to be able to spread it out over a few days.

So how is TB coming along? Who's in the T-BIG (Transition Birchwood Initiating Group)? When's your Great Unleashing scheduled for?

I agree Angela re exhaust fumes & edible plants, though I'm not able to refer to research papers, its pretty intuitive.
If there is a better location for a Birchwood community garden, my guess would be to let Becky Curtis the Coordinator Community First! Gardens',know. www.whatcom.wsu.edu/ag/gardening/cfg
community.firstgardens@wsu.edu
. It's our tax earnings that help pay for the ag-extension department. Is there room at one of the parks?
The topic of Birchwoods community gardens & school gardens would be worth starting a seperate Discussion. Sure would be great if someone would attend this Sunday meeting & share what they learn.
