a possible way to get started again

I've been thinking about what kind of project the ARC could take on that would not be so huge and unanswerable as an entire descent plan. I've been thinking that it might be helpful to have a…Continue

Vision for ARC or EDAP?

Here is a speech in 4 parts by Dana Meadows, the mother of permaculture.  Very inspirational and made me re-think our direction with the ARC - or maybe there needs to be another arm sprouting out of…Continue

Transition Whatcom has a project on the Home and Landscape tour this weekend (June 25/26 from 10AM to 5PM)- the project we helped with across from the Farmers Market for the 350 Home and Garden Challenge. This is a high visibility location so it is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about TW! If YOU want to volunteer to be at the site, for any subset of the tour time, to answer questions about Transition Whatcom please contact Warren Miller at warren@wavefrontmarketing.com. Thanx!

I am also up for a break with a busy summer ahead.  And set meeting dates to allow others to attend along with back-up location would be great. Thanks for the suggestions.

We could potentially meet at my psychotherapy office downtown, at least sometimes. i have space for about 7people comfortably. If we need somewhere bigger maybe we could use the CoOp meeting space. July 11 or 25th are best for me.

Linda, I would be comfortable with taking a break like you have suggested, partially since I am getting pretty busy with other things too.

In addition I want to express strong agreement with your suggestion of making set meeting times and places. (We could alternate locations, and have back up locations too)

Thanks

Fellow ARC group members, how about we take a break for a while?

Monica, Kyler, Heather and I are all taking David MacLeod's sustainability class on Mondays for 6 weeks.  Why don't we meet again on Monday July 18 or 25? Mondays seemed to work for most of us.  Then we could decide on set dates (1st & 3rd Mondays OR 2nd & 4th Mondays) and report on what we learned in this class that is applicable to our work on the ARC.  Since my schedule is finally lightening up for a few months, I can now catch up on all the suggested readings and links that people have posted here.

We would still need to find a place to meet.  Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks for letting us know, Travis ~ I will look forward to the next meeting, and I hope your move goes allright.  I'm going to check out the farm's website, it sounds like a cool place.

  Take care ~ Kate

I'll continue to stay connected with local seed sovereignty & food-forest-farm networks as our ARC process unfolds.  (The Whatcom Food Network forum in April was a huge success! (not a TW creation but attended by some TW members!) http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/group/foodsecurityworkgroup/forum...

Dreaming the Future” Bioneers video: http://vimeo.com/15913826

(Dreaming New Mexico produced a systemic statewide analysis and re-visioning of all aspects of a region's food (and energy) system. This innovative project offers a template for cities and states to realize do-able dreams to leverage the way we produce, market and eat food, region by region.)- http://www.dreamingnewmexico.org/food

There is a third Democracy School being held locally that is drawing in active citizens. - Scholarships are available so don't let low cash flow be a reason not to attend- http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/events/democracy-school-weekend-fri

Remember to read an article about the school in the next Whatcom Watch.

Re rolving ARC meetings-  I just receive notice that our next weeks Monday June 6th meeting has been changed to June 8th Weds.   I'm getting dizzy...  ;-)
I won't be able to attend a 2nd Weds of the month meeting that late in the evening, but hope others will.

As a caretaker of a 'pollinator' sanctuary, I'm attending the 2nd Weds Beekeepers meeting - http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/events/mt-baker-beekeepers - which is also listed on our TW Events page.

I know some of us ARC folks will be at the permaculture principles class- Beyond Sustainablity taught by David MacLeod!- http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/events/principles-and-pathways-be...

It starts next Monday, and there is still time to register.

Online location of the central ARC discussion page is now at: ___?     I recall someone volunteered to start an at-large Blog or Forum for this, but I'm not able to locate it, so I assume this ARC/EDAP Group Site is our current central Transition location for planning?

I notice on our TW events page, the dates for the ARC keep changing...maybe we need time-out for summer outdoor work and trust special topic work-groups are still meeting in our community even if all are not posted on the TW ning site.

We all just do the best we can each moment.  See you on the earth garden!

In the interest of planning ARC Group meetings 1-2months in advance, perhaps we should have one or more alternative meeting places so that if one location has to be unavailable- Travis's house at this point, we are not stuck with nowhere for a meeting.

Could we identify other peoples houses to host?
