Margo, re “Open Sesame-the Story of Seeds” by Gathr Films & your question :

Donations towards the cost of this seed film can be made through the Sustainble B'ham website at: http://www.sustainablebellingham.org/ (Scroll down for link which is processed through Paypal).

I am not sure who is taking a lead on securing the film. I know Warren is willing to help, plus Shannon has been involved. SB Board is supportive. I don't know if movie captain is still needed or not.

Quote: “Movie Captains are the designated folks who help get the word out via social media and word-of-mouth about the upcoming screenings in their hometown.”...they “will help support you in getting the word out to your community....If enough tickets are reserved - the screening takes place! If not enough tickets are reserved - the screening is cancelled and no credit cards are charged.”.(quote from http://opensesamemovie.tumblr.com/Gathr ) .

To request an 'open screening” they provided this link: http://gathr.us/films/open-sesame-the-story-of-seeds/new-screening-...

I used the SB link to donate. Eventually SB will have a more user friendly link on their website.

What does a movie captain do? The film sounds great.

Movie Captain needed for showing of "Open Seseme- the Story of Seeds".

This does look like a good film, though I don't know the cost for showing.

I wonder what the cost is to purchase for small theatre or home party showing?  Here is the link I found on their website: http://opensesamemovie.tumblr.com/Gathr

collective Eye film: "Growing Cities" http://www.collectiveeye.org/products/growing-cities-educational

Cost is $125 for non-profit.

Our community seed swap - 7th annual n 2015, is planned for sunday January 25th.   Sure would be great to have a film fundraiser for seed swap again.

Margo- Bringing it Home is on our schedule! It is currently planned for May 27th at the Pickford with lots of partners involved- a lead-in to help week.

Let me know if you want to get involved in the planning and PR effort!

American Revolutionary would cost $750 for us to show- way past our budget. Once they are done with their initial release we hopefully can find a way to show it. We usually can only break even if the screening cost is  around $100...

Did we decide against the movie about Grace Lee Boggs?
