Hi Heather. It was my friend Karla who is doing a report on the transition initiative and permaculture. I'm not sure if she's on the TW network. I think she left her e-mail on the sheet of paper. We both had a great time at meeting and look forward to more. It was great to meet and talk with you!

The solar oven workshop was a flop. Very low interest and it was cancelled. Plus, the solar ovens I made were not functional. I live in Mt. Vernon now. I'm not too happy with the Transition community because the person who introduced me to it turned out to be a crazy person and booted me off the farm after promising to never ever do it, and when I was in a crisis and needed a home, no one responded to my posting about it. Not one soul. I think that people want comfort and they aren't about to give it up; comfort in communication or lifestyle. Parties in boardrooms will fail to make great change. I also find zero response to my criticism. Now I have a place to live but it is in a community where there is very little desire for change or progress. Bellingham (Washington's Boulder) is elitist and exclusive, I tried for 8 weeks to find a suitable living space there and could not, unless I was willing to live in apartment complexes, which I am not. There are a few people who are onto real change, and those are too radical for the people on TW. Bellingham is car town, to be a cyclist here is a pioneer way of life. Anyway, I'm working on building a frame here in Mt. Vernon and going to school to learn paralegal because I may have to work in that field. I have no friends except my dog and I just get up every day and do very little, with nearly no support from the world around me.

Thanks Heather, I appreciate the feedback on my Wendell Berry summary. I will try to find some of his other books you mentioned.

I'm living in Fairhaven now, and I miss my garden and summer. I'll try to help out at Roosevelt school so maybe see you there.

Hi Heather,
Sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate you taking the time to offer your little area. It sounds like quite a delightful spot! Unfortunately that would not meet our needs. Thanks again though for the offer!

Here's the direct link to the water photo that you mentioned. Now that I see it again, think it's the bay up close.

Thanks Heather....I think we may have at least seen one another at one of the TW meeting, although it has been a while since I have been at one....summer went by too fast with too much to do.... At any rate, I am sure we could arrange something sometime in the near future. I would love to meet you as well, and talk gardens, chickens, etc! Tea would be lovely; I don't do well with walking and talking - heart issues that keep me from that type of activity...but, something else would be lovely. Alys

Heather wrote: "Could you create a broad all-catagory search under the 'Members - Advanced Search' tab? Or guide me on how to locate other transition folks who are involved in seed-saving, permaculture & edible gardens & gaia inspired artists & musicians...."

Heather, for a broad category search, if you go to the Members tab, and type in anything, such as "seed-saving" and then click on the magnifying glass, then all the people who put "seed-saving" in their profile info will pop up onto your screen (this is a good way to find others in your neighborhood too - type in "Birchwood" or "Laurel" and see who comes up.

But DON'T click on "Advanced Search Options" when you're doing this. That just opens another window where you can type in and search answers to the specific questions asked in the profile questions. I don't think I have the ability to edit the Advanced Search options.

Heather,

Let me know the event titles and dates, and I will email the other TWIGS to confirm Transition Whatcom sponsoring these. Thanks.

Heather, My school schedule is pretty busy until Dec 3, and I don't want to commit and then fail to follow through. What amount of time commitment are you looking for? I keep seeing all the activity and wanting to jump in, but I don't want to get in over my head and let anyone down.

Heather - you really missed a super show. Seeing David Icke is a life changing experience. And it's too bad no other Trans Whatcom-ers took me up on the ticket offer. I am just getting back to my emails so I am sorry I missed "Capitalism", but that is on my must see list. I think it is key that transition groups stay in touch with what our govt. is up to as a factor in forward sustainability.

She just called me. Thank you for the connection. We are getting her stuff for a Transition Whatcom table at their Quaker event this weekend.
