I currently live in Humboldt County, CA where I have been involved with the transition by teaching, planning events, and organizing workshops on appropriate technology, permaculture, and natural building. I hope to become part of the Whatcom transition when I move up there this Spring 2012.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I believe we must transition our towns and communities from relying on outside resources and economies in order for us to become more self reliant and resilient to economic and environmental changes that lie ahead.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I hold a BS in Environmental Science with concentration in Appropriate Technology, Alternative Agriculture, and Community Organizing. I have taken a natural building course with Michael Smith of Cob Cottage and hold my Permaculture Design Certificate. I have worked on two organic farms and have experience organizing events and teaching.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
To be determined
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
Searching for sustainability and permaculture in Whatcom in my preparations to move.
Please note that you do not have to answer all of the above questions in order to join, and you can always come back later to edit your profile. If it's all too many questions for now, please provide a short answer below on why you'd like to join this site (or a summary of the above, if answered).
I want to join this site in order find out about projects in the community where I can get involved and to network with like minded people.

I am another one of the people who live here and organize Riverhaven Homestead... I think my housemate Krista Rome may have also written to you. We would be very excited to have you come by and see our place and meet us. Over the next few months we will be figuring out our intern/work trader needs for the spring/summer, so let's stay in touch. At very least we are always working on projects and love to work along side new friends. My phone # is 360 961 9028 if you are going to be near bellingham/lynden and want to stop by!
