Hi Alex, this wet spring and summer has good to be good for our fungi friends.

Do you think white birch would be good for shiitake? We had to remove one in our yard in order to redo the sewer line. I'd like to use it for shiitake plugs unless you think it isn't a good type of wood. I've read that any hard wood is good to use but in other places birch was not on the list of the suggested. Any way our birch was cut down just a couple days ago.

HI Alex,

Just saying hello.

We are getting ready to inoculate some freshly cut logs with shiitake plugs.

Hope you are happy.

Welcome Alex! So great to see you here for the community networking!
Thanks for the work you do keeping the community nourished with mushrooms!
There is also a Community Asks & Offers group here that can be helpful in networking for our needs.
As of yet, nobody has initiated a Transition upper nooksack or north county group yet, but if you do a neighborhood search in the member section it has the potential to find neighbors here you may not have met yet.
Your welcome to call me if you have questions on using the ning.com site.
