Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Attended a showing of "Collapse" @ the Pickford. Rocked "The Great Unleashing" weekend, learned a lot and made some valuable connections. Taking a couple of classes related to sustainibility at Fairhaven College this quarter: Envisioning the Future & Applied Human Ecology, aka Gardening! Hoping to acquire some skills for building a better world!
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I have been interested in the oncoming catastrophe for a long time, and looking into alternative modes of living. Conventional politics are for the most part meaningless; having attended several Whatcom Young Democrats meetings, I've seen first-hand how ill-prepared people are for the radical shift that peak oil (which transcends issues like local elections) implies for everyone.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I'm an English literature major @ Western, graduating next quarter. I will be applying to the Master's program here, and would like to be able to pursue a career in education. Education is crucial to the success of a movement like this, which depends on the dissemination of not just criitcal information but also an overall context in which to understand what the end of the world means.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Garden St, right downtown.

To make a contribution in my own limited way to a free-thinking and far-seeing community of fellows.
