Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
My life, my livelihood! My whole being has searched and landed me in Bellingham in time for the Great Unleashing. Thank you Bellingham! I am involving myself with economics, affordable housing, quantum leaping, and food is an every day effort and joy.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Every day interactions have always told me that society is strong willed and where there are willing people, there are many ways to develop, grow, and encourage. I am interested in the positive change that we all possess, and am ready to serve as a catalyst for change.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I have a business degree and an ongoing interest in community economics. I have traveled and lived abroad extensively and readily identify with hunter gatherer societies. I love to grow and preserve food, and find agriculture an ongoing creative process.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Downtown Bellingham for now
Your Personal Website (if you have one)
http://bellinghamcarpentry.com
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
I happened upon a meeting at Bloom and was familiar with Transition towns from the Intentional Community web site, www.ic.org

Hi Tracy! Welcome to Bellingham! I'm also a wandering grazer, plus passionate about bring people back into the garden! Much of the permiculture & edible forest garden ways allow for grazing & year round harvesting of nourishment & medicines.
If you are interested, there is an Organic Gardners & Permaculture group onsite.
Many of us this spring are busy in our gardens, and volunteer to create new gardens.
Come play with us!

For local food processing and value added ag products, check with the Mt. Vernon based Center for Agricultural Entrepreneurship (or something like that, it is listed on the WSU extension website). They are working with Whatcom and Skagit farmers to develop value -added manufacturing for food locally.

Hi Tracy- Welcome! We will need a workgroup at some point on Local Economy, which will encompass the local currency group but also much more. Our Energy Descent Action PLan for the economy will need to include a lot more area food processing and manufacturing, and some businesses will not be viable any more. I hope, with your experience, that you will be involved in this one when it gets going!
