Hi wendy & welcome to TW and also to the Organic Gardeners group.
I'm not sure if there is a Transition Cornwall Park neighborhood yet, but you would be welcome to connect with other northern urban neighbors in the Transition Birchwood & Columbia area right next door. Look for these groups under the Group tab. I think there might be a neighborhood outdoor potluck gathering at Jasmins garden in the Columbia hood, though you'll have to check in with her or the group postings & with the weather. Be sure to introduce yourself to me in person sometime Lots of long time gardeners all over the county, and many williing to share their knowledge, especially with those who will come work in the garden with them, including me!
