Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I'm dehydrating and powdering foods in ways that allow me to keep food for up to 30 years! Well, I'm trying anyway. ;o)

Also, my husband and I are working with a friend to get a piece of property (about 5 acres) to start a small, commercial, organic farm to feed ourselves and support the property. We're VERY interested in sustainability, living past the end of oil, and networking with like-minded neighbors. Also interested in barter, and we are all members of 4th Corner Exchange.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I want to be ready if/when "disaster" strikes.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I am a raw food enthusiast, and I love to gather free food i the form of wild edibles. I feel this is important and can teach how to do some of it, and I feel like we will all have to know how to do this if/when the grocery structure should fail.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Bellingham proper, but looking out in the county.

Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?

I want to be ready if crap hits the fan (more than it seems to already have) and I want to meet like-minded people

Lori,
We are always looking for new neighbors who are like minded.  Give me a call and you can come to our next potluck.  It will be at 6pm on Sunday, 1/29 at  2427 Goshen Road.  To get there from town, take Mt. Baker Hwy to Everson-Goshen Road.  Go two miles to Smith Road, turn right on Smith and go one mile to Mission Road.  Then 1 and 1/2 miles to Goshen.  Left on Goshen 'til you get to the large green and white shop on your left.  Follow the driveway to the house.  You can give me a call at 319-4266.   Transition Goshen is pretty active.  FYI, one of our families is looking for a couple to rent their extra house and help with the farming.   I look forward to connecting.

Hi Lori!  You might be interested in our Earth Gardens network: http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/group/organic

Welcome to the Seed-Savers group and the Grain & Bean group.  Our 4th annual swap is coming up Jan 29th..I've just posted info on event details, and later will post info on Earth Gardens network.

I'm life time student of raw & wild edibles, and letting the edibles grow wild in the garden!
