- How are you currently involved in the Transition?
- Finney Farm is a 100+ acre community in Skagit County with a focus on environmental activism, education and social outreach, and homesteading/sustainable living. We have handbuilt houses made from local and recycled materials, 3+ acres in orchard and perennials, and an acre in annual food production. We have a seed distro, which distributes packages of heirloom/rare/open pollinated annual and perennial edibles at no charge (about 1000 packages a year currently). We use minimal electricity (less than 10 amps per household) and use alternative water systems (gray water recycling, gravity fed rainwater systems etc) as well as a variety of homesteading/sustainable living practices including permaculture, wildcrafting, food preservation, soap making, fiber arts (garment making, wool processing and production spinning, weaving), homebrew, humanure, natural building, etc.
Our land includes an acre of blueberries, a 1/4 acre forest garden, an acre in annual food production, and another 1 1/2 acres in orchard or perennials, a creek, octagonal log sauna, barn, community house, spring, lots of trees, and much much more!

- Finney Farm hosts a variety of workshops, classes, and workparties. We occasionally accept interns or have openings for residency within out community. Our members have wide variety of skills, some of which include: natural building, fiber arts, production spinning, gardening/farming, permaculture, native plants, homebrew, soapmaking, food preservation, master gardener, master composter, teacher, and more.
