Our focus at Finney Farm is education and social outreach programs. We offer classes, workshops, events, and tours; we distribute heirloom open pollinated vegetable seeds to whoever needs them without an expectation of compensation; we teach people how to grow, harvest, preserve food, and save their own seed; we help set up systems of shared resources; we write and distribute articles, zines, brochures, and pamphlets on sustainable living practices; we volunteer with a variety of local groups and offer our services through their organizations to reach a broader audience. We now recognize that we can play a much larger role in helping people access organic food if we are able to source additional funding.
We are well known for our seed distribution project. We began over a decade ago, and it has grown in popularity far exceeding our expectations. Last year we gave away over 5000 packages of heirloom, open pollinated seed to food banks, schools, community organizations, and low income households. In 2014, we anticipate distributing 7000 packages of seed, which has a retail value of $21,000.
I don't know if this is the right spot to spread the word-please let me know if this isn't an appropriate venue...
We have an fundraising campaign which ends in mid April. You can learn more here (and watch our cute video!)

Please spread the word! And if you are part of a community organization that can use some seeds, please contact us at info@finneyfarm.org and we'll see what we can do!
