Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Not yet involved...discovered link through collapsnet website.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Concern for environment, esp. Whatcom County, in particular water safety, breast cancer stats being high, chemtrails, etc.
Sustainability - seeking to buy a mini farm for organic food growing, chickens, a few other livestock animals.
Economic/Real Estate Concerns = need to move off the grid increasingly...looking for some support and guidance other than just via the internet.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I have a lot of talents and interests along these lines, lots of research, well informed, seeking land to purchase in the area. My husband who is from Vancouver BC and is First Nations, practicing traditional spiritual/medicine ways; youth/family counselor, manager for Lummi Nation. We have two teen sons - so a handful of good minds, strong spirits, open hearts, and reasonably strong backs as my husband would say. Problem solving.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Whatcom Cty - Mt. Baker area (Sand Rd/Mt Baker Hwy area
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
directory on collapsenet site. I have a lot of respect for M. Rupert - not to say I see eye to eye on all things he says but I have tremendous respect for his courage, desire to educate others, and to some extent altruistic motives which have cost him a great deal in his life. I can relate. He's a true compassionate warrior and I keep up with information he presents as other alt. news.

Hi Erin!  I'm behind on reading or responding to the info you've shared, as I go in spurts being online & off...   But I am getting outside for walks in the snow.

Here is a TW (Transition Whatcom) link that may allow you to write your own blog and post your thoughts:

http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/profiles/blog/new

The blog then appears on the front page of our site.

I've not yet heard back from you in regards to having a Newcomers Chat group or blog started.  I'll also be waiting to hear from the organizing team (twog) for their vision or preference too.

Try blogging!

Hi Neighbor!  Great to have you post your questions on a specific EarthGardens  discussion!  Then we can all be part of taking turns answering & sharing our knowledge in a way that is visable & helpful to many!

I know the internet & social networking site can be broad & deep and not always easy to navigate...but its amazing how many of us locals are here and listening.

I often use the personal comment page to share info with one individual, so that my response doesn't get emailed out to hundreds of folks....I'll send you seperate message so we can exchange phone numbers privately, as I don't post mine of the web....I'm out for a walk soon!

Hi Erin, thanks for the message. It would be great to see you there tomorrow!! Should be a pretty fun class. Either way, I'll be teaching lots of classes here in Bellingham at the start of the new year on herbs, natural medicine, shamanism, and all sorts of other things. Welcome to town!! I hope this finds you well.

Welcome Erin! We garden just south of you in the Squalicum Mt/Steward Mt watershed. I missed the Goshen potluck but hope you were able to attend. We don't have a Rome/Harmony/Agate Bay/Nooksack Corner Transition group established yet. (My extended family is connected (adopted) into the Lummi Nation.)
Also welcome to the Earth Gardens group. Be sure to consider requesting Shannon to place you on the Garden E-News list where we share most of our garden related events & news...Info at: http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/group/organic/forum/topics/sharing-events-workshop-on
You can leave your email details on Shannon's TW page: http://transitionwhatcom.ning.com/profile/ShannonMaris?xg_source=profiles_memberList
