Hi Chris!  Growing Veterans is such a great idea!  I appreciate the work you are doing to bring the people back to the farm!

HELLO CHRIS, in response to:

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Hello all, I am a student @ WWU and I hope to remain in Whatcom after I graduate. I have leadership experience and am in the process of planning a non profit that incorporates alternative building methods such as cob, straw bale, rammed earth, etc. I have one more internship opportunity for school that starts in January and I am wondering if there is anyone who has experience or knowledge in those building methods that would be willing to get creative with me and be my intern supervisor. Only stipulation: my program (human services) requires the supervisor to have a masters level education. Let me know if you are interested or have ideas!

I am currently submitting grants to help fund a project involving youth, urban ecology ~ of which there is a natural building component.  I would be happy to work with you ~ one of the organizations I am working with will have the Master degree/ nonprofit component you need.
Forest Garden, is a program under the non profit by Community Connections.  Our current work is in plant and landscape education.
I have met a builder who has worked at a youth camp near Seattle and they have been building natural structures he will be working with us as well, I can get you his number.
There is a cob structure being built on Donovan St near the corner of  21rst. You can stop in there on Sundays.  Shannon Maris has a enews for gardeners you can find out more information on there.
You can reach me at 360 393 7818.   Allain Van Laanen
