Growing Veterans is an up-and-coming project under the umbrella of Growing Washington- a local non-profit with robust CSA and market programs. We exist to harness the skills and leadership of Post 9/11 veterans to develop communities through sustainable agriculture.
In order to assist military veterans in their transition home, we are attempting to build a network of farms and farmers that we can utilize to plug veterans into for employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities. All of which can simultaneously bring veterans back into their communities in a positive way, while also helping to build their resumes.
With Post 9/11 veterans having higher rates of unemployment, suicide and other mental health issues, and homelessness- we see our mission as being a comprehensive way to address many of the issues that returning veterans face. Founded by an Iraq-Afghanistan combat veteran with service-connected disabilities, this is the real deal..
We are looking for any and all sustainable minded farmers and community members to partner with. If you or anyone you know fits this category, please get in touch with us!
Thanks!
