We are in the dawning stage of a new project within Transition Whatcom- a monthly Whatcom County Roving workParty! This will be an opportunity for our members to:
-Engage in the Great Re-skilling
-Forge awareness of and relationships with existing local resilience-oriented organizations and TW initiatives and workgroups
-Build community
-Gain experience with the real work of Transition in voluntary baby steps and,
-Have some fun!
This first workparty is a collaboration with the Center for Local Self-Reliance and is co-sponsored by Transition Southside. We’re going to be installing fence posts (not digging the holes, that’s already done) and fencing panels! We will be working in shifts, from 9-11am, 11am-1pm, and 1-3pm, so if you can only come for 2 hours we’d still love your help. If you’re attending the workparty, please RSVP. If you’re not yet familiar with CLSR, please check out their website at http://www.caretakershouse.org/.
We acknowledge that if we waited for good weather to do outdoor work in Whatcom County, we wouldn’t have much of a Transition movement. This is a rain-or-shine event, so bring your rain gear and your willingness to laugh at the weather!
If you want to help but have health concerns about physical exertion, please contact Laura Sellens and we’ll find a meaningful way for you to contribute. If you have apples to donate for hot cider or other donations for prizes at the workParty, please contact laurasellens@gmail.com. Thanks!
