Please remember to vote! This primary election in Whatcom County is extremely important for the enduring health (sustainability) of our community. Issues such as a clean Lake Whatcom, the proposed coal terminal, sprawl, protecting farmers and farmlands, and dealing with emergency management issues are all at stake. Please inform yourself (don't believe everything you hear) and vote wisely.
The the local voters' pamphlet has been mailed out. It's also available online at wei.secstate.wa.gov/Whatcom.
Only the executive and sheriff races will appear on everybody's ballots. The mayoral races will only appear on ballots for people who live inside those cities' limits.
If you have an address that lists Ferndale or Bellingham but you live outside city limits, you won't get to vote for mayor.
Monday, Aug. 8, is the deadline for in-person registration for people who want to vote in the primary election. The Auditor's Office is near the rotunda in the County Courthouse, 311 Grand Ave.
The deadline for online voter registration has passed.
