Event Description

RE Sources for Sustainable Communities and Western Washington University’s Office of Sustainability will be hosting nationally-acclaimed urban transportation planner, Mia Birk. Birk will be presenting and reading from her newly-released book, “Joyride: Pedaling Toward a Healthier Planet” as well as leading community discussions on the topic of alternative transportation in Bellingham.
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:00pm in the Western Washington University Viking Union Multi Purpose Room.

The reading will be followed by an information fair, featuring local organizations and advocacy groups that specialize in alternative transportation topics, programs, and community action. The event is free and open to the general public. During this hour-long community presentation, Mia will read excerpts from her book, discuss her personal journey to integrate cycling into her daily life, and share her inspirational ideas for healthier communities
