Event Description

Come celebrate school gardens at Common Threads’ 4th annual Dirt Fest on Wednesday, April 18th. This year, join the Common Threads team for a community-wide garden party at Parkview Elementary 2:30 – 4pm. All families from all schools are welcome. And this is a FREE event!

  • Explore the Parkview School Garden

  • Prepare and taste healthy snacks: Spring Rolls and Dirt Cups!!

  • Enjoy live music, with songs about gardens!

  • Plant and take home garden seedlings!

  • Purchase seeds for your garden!

  • After the garden party (or before!), join Friends of Common Threads for a DINE OUT at Goat Mountain Pizza! If you mention Common Threads, 20% of your purchase will help grow good eaters!

Common Threads is a Bellingham-based nonprofit that connects kids to healthy food. Providing gardening and cooking lessons for close to 6,000 students in 21 schools across Whatcom County, Common Threads promotes a seed-to-table approach to food production, good nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Most of Common Threads' programs take place on public school grounds, during the school day in collaboration with classroom teachers and food service staff. Additionally, Common Threads offers gardening and cooking programs after school and over Spring and Summer breaks. More info at www.commonthreadsfarm.org
