Latest Activity: Jul 16, 2009
Please join us at the third “Party Up For Power Down” gathering at the Sustainable Living Center (SLC) at 7pm on Thursday, July 16th.
MORE PARTY; LESS TALKING HEADS
Our first Party Up for Power Down was focused on listening to our members and what concerns and interests they have. Our second was focused on listening to the Initiating Group and hearing more about the structure and path of Transition Whatcom. This time the focus will be on building the community and connections between us all.
We have two activities planned to help us get to know one another more deeply. During one activity we’ll experience first-hand about the resilience built into our intricate web of life.
The second activity involves bartering. Let’s learn how to do this.... together. We’d like each of you to bring 3 to 5 things you already own and no longer need. Said things should be small enough to be placed in front of you on the floor (i.e. books, CDs, knickknacks, food, small garden tools, small plants, etc.). Why? Come find out. And know that we’d like you to take home any unclaimed things you bring (yes, it’s the RE Store, but our goal is not to leave them more stuff!)
WHAT’S 'TRANSITION BLAINE' (TB) UP TO?
Ron Snyder and Cathy Taggert will inform us about the projects TB is already involved with and their plans ahead.
Snacks include wine and beer!
WHERE’S THE SLC?
It’s above the RE Store on Meridian Street. Come around the back and find the stairway that is signed to the SLC. The stairway is often hidden by a large truck trailer.
And check the SLC out for future meetings for your other groups!
DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO REPORT?
Are you involved with an actual (or planned) project appropriate for TRANSITION sponsorship? Please contact Cindi Landreth at 360-319-9092. If there’s time perhaps you can tell everyone about it (after you clear this with Cindi).
We hope to see you there!
Although we envision these PARTY UPS for members only (those who have joined our NING site), we welcome those seriously considering becoming one of us. This is one virus we hope to spread. Be a carrier. Spread the word.
