Quoting Erik Lindberg of Transition Milwaukee, "Our best hope is to become literate and numerate regarding our use and consumption of energy and to attempt to set our future course with the sort of broader understanding of ourselves, our expectations, and our assumptions that has remained relatively absent from our collective thinking."
We will meet and plan our personal energy future for the month of July with a goal of calculating and reducing our carbon footprints by the amount we can personally commit to for this first month. We'll tell our stories, and hopefully inspire others to take similar steps.
If you have a laptop and a carbon footprint calculator you like to use, bring it along and we'll start making visible commitments to reduce our oil consumption. If you are more heart than analytical - no worries - this will be a safe place to express yourself, and the numerical types will gently lead you through the process of reducing your carbon footprint with love and respect.
