Group Tasks to be completed before next meeting:

  • Review/edit survey (already posted under the Local Investing discussion) so we can send it out to TW members before our next meeting.  Caitlin will handle the internet part.
  • vet Kristi Laguzza-Boosman: do we want her to be a speaker for MYM campaign?  Please post your thoughts in the MYM discussion page.
  • continue to investigate other possible speakers
  • determine if we want to show any parts of the films Money as Debt or The Money Fix.  Both begin by explaining what your money does when you put it in a bank and then go on to larger issues.

I'm sorry I missed the meeting today - something came up that I had to attend to. I'm glad you had a good turnout and it sounds like you had a good discussion. I checked to see about getting the topic on the Joe Show. I asked Joe how he picked topics and how far in advance he booked his show. He responded - "As for topics, I just keep my eyes and ears open for interesting issues and people. I enjoy talking politics but there are so many other things that intrigue me that I like to pass along. IAnd let me know if you see or hear something that you think might be a good topic on The Joe Show." So I don't think there would be a problem there. That at noon on AM 930 (KBAI). I heard Kristi speak at the teach-in Diane arranged this spring. There was a large, diverse turnout. I thought she was outstanding. Does anyone know if her book on the subject is out yet?

A comparison of Credit Unions and Banks to ensure people understand how they are different would be valuable I believe but I would advertise it as a debate as that implies that one is better than the other. Both play a positive role in the community.
Shirley, did you mean to say that you would NOT advertise it as a debate? Thanks for stepping up and contacting Joe. He really does have a wide range of topics and this would fit it if we had the right participants.
