Scott Brown effectively describes historical and current causes of our separations from nature and from each other, then links causes to realistic ways to help overcome personal, global and environmental separations. He openly discusses his own personal and professional divisions and how he learned to overcome them. The practical methods he shares inspire readers to see how we can do the same, and how our personal changes can affect global situations. Especially relevant to me was feeling divided from people whose hostile actions had made me want to shut them out. Scott’s methods helped me increase my compassion for what in their pasts might have caused such hostility and this lessened my need for separation. I strongly recommend this book to all who want to build bridges over the walls that divide us from nature and from each other.
