My brother in law just told me about the group today over dinner so I haven't participated in anything directly, but I'm very interested in learning and becoming involved.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
My family tries to live purposefully - in a healthful, responsible and sustainable manner and we continually look for ways to improve on all fronts. As a group of like minded individuals we can mutually, learn more, grow more and benefit each other and our community.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I feel like I'm in a perpetual learning stage - we've removed all lawn from our yard, attempted to have an edible yard (and the deer and bunnies ate it all instead of us!) so now we are gardening in pots on the back deck where we have the most sun. We are in the process of obtaining solar panels, moving from rain barrels to rain benches, working at becoming a zero waste family (in baby steps), we love the idea of native, wild edibles & medicinals...(currently researching how to start a native garden in our NW woods), we try to refuse, then up-cycle before re-cycling, etc... I wish I felt competent enough at any of these things to call them a "skill" or "talent"... maybe some day!
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Silver Beach - Toad Lake Road
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
My brother in law.
