Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
I have attended one function. I am moving away from the facebook model of social networking and wanted to join a network of like-minded people.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I believe we as a culture have slowly transitioned away from lifestyles that are rooted in and acknowledge natural relationships and limitations. I have always identified with more traditional ways of living within natural constraints. Studies in Organic Gardening and Permaculture have strengthened my preferences.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I have mostly natural, undeveloped property in Whatcom County suitable for education, sustainably harvested resources, etc. Knowledge of wild-crafting, foraging, Native Plants, critters and ecosystems. Knowledge of gardening. Permaculture trained and Master Recycler/Composter. Gardening tools and a small truck. I enjoy sharing nature knowledge.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Happy Valley studio. Welcome Valley property.
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
Many friends.
Please note that you do not have to answer all of the above questions in order to join, and you can always come back later to edit your profile. If it's all too many questions for now, please provide a short answer below on why you'd like to join this site (or a summary of the above, if answered).
To share knowledge and resources with like-minded folks in community.

We are also looking for landscape stewards for our food forest, native shade gardens, and xeriscaping as well as donations of plants, tools, mulch materials and occasional volunteers. My Personal Park

Back in 1999 I went in on 20 undeveloped acres of land in rural Whatcom County with some friends. Our plan was to create a small community, start with one shared house and expand out to several dwellings over time. I moved my converted school-bus, w/skylights, bedloft, propane appliances and great storage, onto the property early in 2000 and started clearing garden space. As it happened, the land partners found themselves unable to occupy the land for various reasons, seasons went by, and I…

Needing New Home

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 3:45pm 3 Comments

I've been living in a super funky little apartment for four years now and have outgrown it. We're talking under 400sq ft. I can use a little more space, some storage and good natural light. So I am looking for a nice in-law apt, a tiny house or a long-term house-sitting gig for myself and my older well behaved cat. Hoping to keep it under $600 but thinking $700 is my upper limit. I am an avid gardener, a neat freak and avoid collecting things, preferring to purge possessions on a regular…
