I was introduced at WWU EarthDay 2010
I am interested in the economics work group, and I would like to learn more about other areas.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I stopped driving 2 1/2 years ago. I am a bicyclist now. I put my bike on the bus, and I am able to get to BC for $1.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
My degree is in economics/finance. There is a growing possibility that there is a currency collapse forthcoming, but that is a "secret" in corporate media. My duty is to prepare, rather than to ignore.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
I learned about TW at WWU EarthDay from Rhys. He told me the website.
Please note that you do not have to answer all of the above questions in order to join, and you can always come back later to edit your profile. If it's all too many questions for now, please provide a short answer below on why you'd like to join this site (or a summary of the above, if answered).
More to come.......

Randall, the Personal Finance group hasn't been talking a lot about alternative currencies but I do know that retirees will have to figure out what services or goods to trade if the federal currency collapses. It may be even more difficult for us than for young people. We're all in this together. You may want to check out the Economic Evolution group which was started by the founders of the Fourth Corner Exchange.
Welcome, Randall! With your background you may be interested in our Personal Finance group. Use the Groups button at the top of the page. There are an overwhelming number of groups but also a handy search box on the upper left of the Groups page. Our group is just starting but we have a number of discussions going to explore local loans, local banks, local investment, etc. We are aware of the potential for currency collapse and interested in pursuing options for that as well. Hope to see you on the group. Judith
