In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?

Short version off the top of my head: on the global level, I am dedicated to stopping the destruction of rainforest around the world, specifically the rainforests of Southeast Asia which are being destroyed to make room for palm oil plantations.To the best of my ability I do not purchase anything containing unsustainable palm oil. I also endeavor to purchase coffee beans that are sustainably sourced and support the livelihood of the local peoples.

Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?

I found your site because I am interested in participating in reforestation. I'm also interested in learning organic vegetable gardening and in the possibility of creating permaculture in my yard. I've had some physical limitations which have kept me from doing much of this in the past, but am hoping this is improving now. Also, I live in an old house which needs repairs and improvements. When I take care of these things, I'd like to do it in as green and sustainable and cost effective way as I can.
