Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition?
Well, this is my first year growing some of my own food. I wasn't able to plant nearly as much as I would have liked this year but it was a start. The main thing I learned is that good soil is by far the most expensive part of a food garden (if you buy it all, that is). I'm lookng for a place to start preparing soil for next year, I want to spend the winter collecting cut grass and leaves and food waste and whatnot to compost in place so I'll have lots of good soil ready for the spring. Big plans.
Since I don't have as much food planted this year as I'd like, I'd love to help you guys glean some feilds this season. It's a great idea, I'm glad set up this website. I'd love to start canning this year while I get ready for my own crops for next year.
Let me know when you're going, i'd love to come along.&
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Hmmm. I'm not sure I'm sure what you mean by that. . . I read all of Michael Pollan's books a while ago, think he's brilinant. I want to grow my own food. I think our economy is very irrational and that we need to build local economic systems that are stable and effective.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I can haul up to 300lbs on a bicycle trailer I made this month. (hoping to make some more soon!). I'm fairly new to gardening but I've done some canning and know how to do that. I have tools and a workshop. Generaly a pretty handy fellow to have around.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Columbia neighborhood

Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
Word of mouth I think. I really can't remember where I heard about you.

You guys seem interesting. I hope you can teach me about the gleaning deal and hopefully I can teach you guys something.
