Not yet involved in Whatcom's transition. About to relocate to the area. Was recently involved in Columbia, Missouri's development of local agriculture and other food systems.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
The transition is necessary. This is obvious to me. I identify with the movement because the way I wish to live my life and the community I wish to live in is very similar to the transitioning community described in the Transition Handbook.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
Agriculture
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
not sure yet

I'm trying to relocate to Bellingham, and want to find a way to plug into a healthy, intelligent community.

Welcome Elliot. I also recently joined TW and will move to Bellingham in a few months. But already I am trying to "making it my own" by actively participating in it at least through discussions now and later through practical projects after my relocation. I hope you do the same.
I believe we need to be assertive and bring our unique life experiences and ideas to the table while taking responsibility and willing to work collectively despite our differences. My approach is "scientific" thinking we need much experimentation / objectivity to tackle the growing problems rather than just our will and intentions. Let the chips fall where they may and learn to lead by example collectively is my moto. If you have done your research well and think history / evolution is behind your back it would only be a matter of responsible struggle and patience before you are rewarded by collective success bringing fulfillment, true joy, and dignity to your life. At least that is the way I see it.
P.S. I used to live in Columbia long time ago. Looking forward to joining you in the common struggle and learning from your experiences.
