I just got involved in the Transition, although I wouldn't even say that I am "involved" yet. I just found out about the website and the Transition, but am very interested in becoming more involved in some way.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I identify with the Transition movement as someone who has been trying to lead an environmentally sustainable lifestyle, and help others become more aware of the impact of their actions. Specifically, I am a firm believer that a strong community is an essential ingredient in affecting positive, permanent change.
Do you have particular interests, skills, talents or resources you would like to bring to Transition Whatcom?
I just moved back to Bellingham after graduating from Vermont Law School, where I focused my studies on environmental law. When I last lived here I did an Americorps program via the Washington Conservation Corps, during which I worked outside everyday, planting native and weeding non-native/invasive species, in addition to other riparian restoration projects. After that, I worked as a volunteer coordinator and administrative assistant at a food bank in Seattle. I bring a lot of community involvement, law, and conservation experience.
In what neighborhood or part of the county do you reside?
Birchwood neighborhood
Where did you hear about Transition Whatcom and how did you find our community network website?
My partner sent me a link to David Suzuki's video lecture from May 2013.
