My Dad follows media. He reads the papers and magazines and watches the news. I do not. So I rely on him to keep me abreast of interesting tidbits. I do not try to follow his sources and I trust his failing memory by taking much of what he says with a grain of salt. But yesterday he told me that 47% of Americans have an active savings plan, and I remember him saying a couple of years ago that 3% of Americans had an active savings plan. If this is even close to accurate, let's celebrate!! It shows that even our culture, sleepy and addicted to gratification, can respond to a stimulus in an independent manner. People-individuals- have been shaken and are taking steps toward resilience, even if they don't know it. This gives me hope that as our challenges deepen, our countrymen can and will wake up and pull together. I open this discussion space to explore the idea of enough. I have been working for a few years on identifying what enough is for me, and I'm finding that as I become more aware of the money, resources, time, and energy that goes through my life, enough is becoming less and less, and with the surplus I am able to expand my visions and values. I am no longer focused solely on survival, nor a modicum of comfort. Those have been achieved and are at maintenance energy level. Now I'm focusing on creation. Sculpting the life that I want given my situation. This psychological jump has been largely achieved through my awareness of enough. Do you have enough? Do you know what enough looks like for you? Do you scrabble around after enough? Is it elusive for you? There are strategies.

How will 'enough' change as we transition to a post-oil future?

Here's a link to a talk by Vicki Robin skip to about 10 minutes into it, there's lot of blank time at the beginning. Hope this link works: http://go2.wordpress.com/?id=725X1342&site=ymoyl.wordpress.com&...
