Squirrels for the 21st Century:
Seed Saving around the World
quote: "This program, by Ellen Kuhlmann, will focus on wild plant seed collection and its subsequent storage in seedbanking facilities. The history of seedbanking will be touched on, as well as the reasons why seeds are collected and stored. The aims and inner workings of the Kew Millennium Seed Bank, run by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and its U.S. collaborator, the Seeds of Success Program, will be detailed. We will delve into the challenges and rewards of seed collecting as well as the main steps involved in completing a seed collection. Ellen will also talk about the various partnerships that make the program run, and how WNPS members can become involved as volunteers of the program.
Ellen is the Seeds of Success Program Project Manager for the Rare Plant Care and Conservation, University of Washington Botanic Gardens."
