Event Description

* Start time delayed to 7:30pm, and location changed to Bellingham High School Commons

Big Coal wants to ship millions of tons of coal per year through Cherry Point Terminal in Bellingham to Asia -- spewing toxic coal dust, putting our safety at risk, clogging our railroads and ports, and stoking the climate crisis all the way.

Join fellow community members at the Coal Hard Truth Forum and learn about the campaign to protect Bellingham and communities across Washington from the dirty and dangerous coal industry.

When: May 4th at 7:00 pm

Where: Bellingham Public Library (210 Central Avenue, Bellingham).

Who: Dan Pike, Mayor of Bellingham; Jean Melious, former Whatcom County Planning Commissioner; Robin Everett, Sierra Club; Matt Krogh, ReSources

Learn about:

The regional picture of coal use and the health impacts of coal

What this terminal proposal will mean for Bellingham, for the State of Washington and for the global community.

Explore better alternatives and what you can do to make Washington Coal-Free!

New Location!    Bellingham High School Commons! Tonight 7pm – per email from Bob Harris at ReStore/RESources:

quote: At the urging of the mayor and others the Scoping Forum--Coal Hard Truth--that was originally scheduled to be held this evening at 7:00 PM at the Library has been moved the Bellingham High School Commons. It was thought that the 100 person capacity at the Library would not be large enough for this forum. We are co-sponsors of this event and we have a board member (Jean) and a staffer (Matt) speaking. Please spread the word and come enjoy the fun if you can.”
