Locally-sourced cooking fat is something most locavores struggle with in their quest to eat locally. Home-rendered lard from local pastured pigs is not only easy to make but healthy! In this hands-on class you will render some lard and also try your hand at producing vegetable oils from locally-grown seeds and nuts with a small, inexpensive oil press.
REGISTER THROUGH WHATCOM FOLK SCHOOL at www.whatcomfolkschool.org or 319-7495. $15 registration fee to WFS plus $20 class fee to instructor. Pay one registration fee to WFS and take as many classes in the series as you like.
