Join us for the first of many weeding, mulching, and re-vegetation work parties to restore Little Squalicum wetlands and creek, in honor of Whatcom Water Week. Contaminated by industrial operations, then remediated in 2011, the land around the streambed has been replanted with acres of native plants. Before the plantings become fully established, wetlands and riparian habitats (integral to maintaining water quality and habitat for native species) are vulnerable to invasive species and are in need of mulching and weeding.
Help us restore Little Squalicum Park. Everyone is welcome. We will meet in Little Squalicum Park near the entrance from the lower parking lot of Bellingham Technical College. Parking is allowed in the "Lower Lot" of Bellingham Technical College.
