Join the North Sound Baykeeper and the Northwest Straits Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation for the kickoff event of The RE Store’s 11th Annual Recycled Art Show with a beach cleanup and art installation at Locust Beach.
We will meet at the Bellingham Kite Boarding Community Center, on Locust Avenue, one block off of Marine Drive, at 1 pm on April 1. We will provide litter collection equipment, gloves, and light snacks. Please come prepared wearing study clothing, and a sense of adventure. Please bring plastic buckets. We will share some brief information about our organizations, clean the beach for 2 hours, sort and examine our gleanings, and create a temporary art installation right on the beach!
Cleaning up the beach is a simple act that lets us cherish the earth and connects us to our environment. “Every time I wander the beach, I’m amazed at what I find. When I take a minute to look at all the plastic, I’m reminded about how important our choices as consumers really are, and I’m inspired to purchase much less plastic,” said Lee First of the North Sound Baykeeper Team.
