Have you noticed all the road construction in downtown Bellingham? What's going on?
Business owners are actively participating in the protection of Whatcom Creek by becoming stewards of these new DIG garden sites. These gardens help treat and infiltrate stormwater that in the past ran directly into the creek.
What is a business owner's role in watershed stewardship? What policy issues should you be aware of? We'll walk and talk - and eat - our way past several DIG sites.
Meet at the SC office at 11:45 then lace up your walking shoes and grab your sunglasses for a stroll through nearby downtown.
David and Allison Roberts from Kulshan Services LLC will be on hand as will Rose Lathrop, Sustainable Connections' Green Building and Smart Growth Manager and Anthony Freeman, engineer for the City of Bellingham Public Works.
A 'walking taco' bar will be available for refreshment (suggested $5 donation) or bring your own brown bag. Please RSVP to erin@sconnect.org or 647-7093 x108 by Tuesday, August 5th to be included in the taco count.
