Friends,
We have the opportunity to stop the taxpayer funded spraying of Monsanto's Roundup on the county roadways done by the Public Works Dept each year. This practice is not only contaminating our air and soil but because it's being sprayed next to runoff ditches and creeks makes it into our water supply. The EPA seems to think it's okay to poison us up to a certain level and so the Public Works Dept says they are following guidelines but as we know it is not okay - especially when we citizens are paying for it.
Ken Mann and Barbara Brenner of the Whatcom County Council have acknowledged my concern and are holding a committee meeting with the Public Works Dept. on June 3 at the County Courthouse, 311 Grand Ave at 1:30. It is being held in the Council Chambers. Please attend if possible to show support and I will request that we be able to make comments but don't know if that is possible yet.
If this issue is a concern to you please rally your troops and show up Tuesday.
