ahh ummm....how can I as an energy addict, be anonymous if I join this group....this very public Energy Addicts "Anonymous" group.....
Will my urban friend who have bikes but not cars pressure me to stay home more often and want me to not come into town to visit them or attend events....Will they look down at me when I get hungry and eat at an urban cafe with food imported from oil rather than eating from my own garden? Will my need to stay warm & healthy cause me to deterorate in the winter if I don't travel to southern latitudes....It feels like I'm wearing a red heart on my chest and its breaking from both tears of earth-pain sadness, and the fullness, of gratitude, bursting with wonder & joy as I watch bees & blossoms & trees & starlight and children filled with wonder.! Today I held a baby owl in my hands and collected fallen petals from the garden. Those joys used no oil.

I was moved to start this after reading about the terrible oil "spill" in the Gulf this week. While I find I want to blame BP, or politicians, or somebody for this, I also know that my dependence on energy is a piece of the picture. I'm travelling to Florida next week because my youngest sister is actually getting married! I'm excited, but I also know that part of our collective recovery from oil addiction is the realization that we must limit our air travel. I simply don't feel I can justify hopping on a jet several times a year, yet, some of my family lives thousands of miles away and I want to see them. Does anyone else think about this conundrum?
