February through April 2010, we will be doing weekend Garden Work
Parties to help our neighbors start a new garden or get their old
garden ready for Spring.  Contact Chris if you want to sign your yard
up for an "Organic Makeover" or if you want to join the parties and
come help!  There will be food, fun, and that deep feeling of
satisfaction every time you walk by your neighbor's garden and think "I
helped build that!"  Phone 961-9028, or message me.

Fantastic Chris! I would be more than happy to help out at the weekend work parties!
Also, perhaps we can host one of the potlucks in the future if you need a host?
Cheers!
Carrie
Lia and I took a look at our garden and want to grow more vegetables in the front, so we are looking for some help with making beds in the front.

Digging anyone?

Francis
OK, we have our first garden work party scheduled!

Sat, Feb 6, from 9:30 to 11 am
at Kirsti Charlton's house: 1410 Grant St.

We will most likely be sheet mulching her front yard to prepare for a Permaculture garden! Please show up and help and learn... and bring friends if you like!
Our first garden work party!! This Saturday, Feb 6th, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Kirsti Charlton's house: 1410 Grant St. We will be doing a cardboard sheet mulch to compost over her lawn and turn it into a big, beautiful garden space! This will be a very fun transformation to witness, as well as an educational opportunity for anyone who wants to learn about turning lawn into garden in the easiest and most ecological way. Please join us Saturday morning if you are free, and tell other neighbors! Helpers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
Sun, Feb 28, 1:00-3:00 garden work party at Chris/Jason/Heron/& Anders' house: 1131 Humboldt St. We will be doing a small sheet mulch and planting various berry bushes. Come join the fun; bring a shovel, gloves, and large cardboard boxes if you have any. Then 3:00pm the same day: Seed Give-Away at our house-- come and get seeds for your garden!

Sun, Mar 7, 2:00-4:00 garden work party at Jim Kling's house: 1610 Grant St. We will be helping him add a vegetable garden to his lovely native plant garden. Bring shovel and gloves if you have them.

Hope to see you there! Contact me if you want to sign your house up for a garden work party! We will build a new garden, weed, dig holes, shovel wood chips, whatever you need!
Upcoming garden work parties in the York Neighborhood:

Sat Mar 13: Franklin Park work party, 9am-noon. Please bring gloves and hand tools for weeding the native plant area.

Sun Mar 21: Garden work party at Judy Hopkinson's house-- contact me for the address, 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Bring shovel and gloves if you have them.

Sat Mar 27: Biking Garden Tour of the York Neighborhood! Meet at Nelson's Market at 10:30 am and we will bike (or walk, it is a short distance) around and see the edible gardens in the neighborhood. A great chance to get ideas, ask questions, and learn. It will end with a potluck at our house around 1:00 pm-- we will make a big soup and you can bring something portable to add to the lunch.
