Thank you Rhys for taking the lead! I am mneeting during that time with the head of Small Business Development Center to conjur possibilities of partnership between coworking space and her organization. Tlaunching the CoSpace (working name for the coworking space) is pretty much now my priority.

The doodle poll is in, and at the moment, 6 out of 9 people can attend a meeting on Thursday, August 19th at 5:30pm! I'm going to touch base with Bellingham Cohousing to see if they are open to us having our meeting at their community, so I'll make sure to let everyone know if that works out.

I just returned to Bellingham from some travels, so I'm a little out of the loop, but we didn't set a definitive date at our last meeting so I'm running on the assumption that nothing is currently scheduled. Therefore I suggest that everyone follow this link (http://www.doodle.com/52my9pqmndudb4k2) and submit their availability so that we can schedule our next meeting. The poll will close on Monday, August 8th at 10pm, so make sure to answer quickly. The meeting time will be posted on this workgroup on Monday night before 11pm.

Does anyone know when we meet next? and where?

Hi all, I wanted to say--it's been my desire to attend the last couple of meetings, but I was working weekday nights. That's over now, so it's my intention to come to the next one if at all possible.

Mention has been made of skills of living together as being crucial for ego-village success. I'm offering an introduction to EFT, which is a simple and powerfully effective way of releasing triggered reactions that result in fear, anger, lack of creativity, self-imposed limits of creativity and performance, and much more. On the positive side people can open up to themselves and others more fully and create and perform at higher levels.

In my experience, in communities people sometimes get stuck in positions and attitudes, as well as in feelings of frustration, anger, irritation, impatience, and so on, on the negative side. These feelings and positions can continue for a long time, doing damage to the community.

EFT is a great tool for opening those up. I have studied and facilitated NVC. EFT is a great complement there (for self-empathy), and I would say EFT has at least as much to contribute to community well-being as NVC, in parallel and quite different ways as well.

Anyway, the 2 hour intro is June 29, 11 to 1, at Red Cedar Dharma Hall, 1021 N. Forest. Details in the events. To be followed by a class on the 4 Tuesdays of July, same time, different place.

The regional O.U.R. Ecovillage on Vancouver Island has a successful story of how they helped their planning department change the guidelines that no longer worked for the residents, to new guidelines that did work. Here is a link to their website:

Jeff, thanks for your research through the Planning Depart.
It might make sense for one of us to start a Discussion in this group called something like "Legal Issues & Zoning". Then we can post the info we learn and have it in one place. This is something we often do in the "Organic Gardeners...Permi' group when sharing resources.

Jeffrey & Jenny, I just noticed the comments that preceded your last comments are missing.
Those proceeding comments were from a new member to Transition Whatcom who joined within the last few week, quickly posted resources and links both on this group, in his blog, and within other discussion & comment sections, and then just as quickly left the whole Transition Whatcom ning.com site.
When any of us discontinues our membership or connection to a ning.com site, it also removes Everything we have ever written or posted. The loss of this information can potentially be avoided if we use the Discussion format in our groups, rather than just the comment section. Hope this helps. If there were any useful links in the missing comment sections, these can be reposted.

Can this non-"Arbitrary Descending Authority Land Use" concept/law be applied to a particular community or piece of land or does it have to be implemented and changed into law for the county, city, state????
