Want to be my neighbor?  Posting from Alicia Wills that I am passing along:

Two bedroom house on a shared large property in the Birchwood neighborhood is coming up for rent on March 15th, 2018.  This house/property is a gardener/permie’s delight, with sunny raised beds, access to berry bushes & fruit trees, and a chicken coop with fenced chicken yard.  Located on a quiet street, the .65 acre property is shared with two other households – a basement apt and a separate tiny house.  Each household has their own private entrance, separate yard & garden area and 1 parking space.  The property has solar panels and water catchment in place. Common areas include a small meadow with fruit trees and berry bushes and the chicken accommodations (this is up for grabs or sharing).

This is a beautiful property – best suited to progressive folks wanting a peaceful sustainable homespace where they can grow food and contribute to creating a green haven in town.  Moving into the other spaces in March are a 60-something couple with a cat and a 50-ish single man and his dog – all quiet-living, progressive, gardeners.  An opportunity for “good-neighbor community”: where all have their own private space, communicate and collaborate when needed re shared spaces, have friendly faces to say Hi in passing, opportunity for occasional social (if desired), and someone close-by to lend a hand if needed.

The approx. 1550 ft unit still available occupies the top/mostly ground level of the house. It has a large kitchen/dining/living room with windows and small deck overlooking the gardens, 2 large bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a large den/office space, laundry area (W/D), an attached garage/shed, and a double-paned sunroom. There is a gas insert fireplace in the living room and a woodstove in the den; hardwood floors and skylights. The private yard for this unit has 8-9 sunny raised beds, a wood deck and open area as well as plantings of herbs and berries. We’re thinking $1550.00/month (with possibility of occasional work-trade option for partial rent reduction).  All utilities except for phone/cable/internet are included in the rent. Lease terms are open for discussion; rental references will be requested and checked.

If interested, contact Alicia (below). Please include a description of who you are, what you’re looking for in a home and any questions you may have – to start the conversation.

Feel free to pass this along to friends who might be interested!
