Event Description

RE Sources will host an educational tour of Bellingham rain gardens and stormwater facilities to teach citizens simple ways to help improve local water quality.

Stormwater (rain flowing off streets and other surfaces directly into waterways) is the #1 source of pollution in urban waterways in Washington State.

“A well designed rain garden absorbs the first half inch of rain during a rain event,” says Lee First, RE Sources’ Pollution Prevention Specialist. "That first flush of rain contains the most pollution. Incorporating a rain garden into your landscape is a great way to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff that flows from your property and help keep pollution out of our waterways."
