WHAT IS THIS? WHO IS THIS FOR?
The Whatcom Action Patrol, along with other local feminist folks are organizing a two-day workshop aimed at confronting patriarchy and other systems of oppression within our community. ALL ARE WELCOME! We'll work toward developing a collective understanding of oppression, provide space for community building, and develop tools and skills that we can all use to better support each other and fight patriarchy!
WHAT IS PATRIARCHY? WHY FIGHT IT?
Patriarchy is a system of domination which privileges masculinity and enforces strict, exclusive, and unequal gender roles, and which interlocks with racism, homophobia, transphobia, able-ism, and other forms of oppression. Patriarchy affects people of all genders. Therefore, as a community, we must work to see beyond dualities, dismantle hierarchies, and engage in multi-issue organizing to create radical and liberating change for ourselves and our culture. Patriarchy and oppression pervade our minds, our relationships, our environment, and virtually every aspect of our lives. With this workshop we hope to provide information, support, training, and healing surrounding all forms of oppression.
ALL OF THIS IS FREE, but please bring some cash to donate if you can afford to. We need your support so we can keep putting on rad events. FREE LUNCH on both days, catered by Bellingham Food Not Bombs.
