This reskilling workshop will explore the ancient art of wet felting raw wool from the fleece to the finished product. Each participant will learn the use of wool combs, hand carders, and drum carders for preparing the raw wool. Each attendee will also learn the use of a resist, pattern-making from scratch, and materials and supplies needed for wet felting their own items at home. We will keep it simple this time and use a basic pattern that can become a hat, tea cozy, purse, pouch, or bowl at the discretion of the creator. In an advanced wet felting workshop to follow at a date to be announced, we will make felted booties. This beginner workshop is a prerequisite to attend the bootie workshop. A third stand-alone workshop will also be announced for needle-felting techniques that can be used to repair or embellish wet felting projects, or create items directly from carded wool. Registration fee of $20.00 includes all materials necessary to make one item in the workshop to take home. Work trades are available. Registration is limited to 6 people.
